Women's Reverence for the Earth - Fact & Fiction 

WREFF is a five part reading series in which we examine ecofeminism, feminist methods and theories, and the role of women in the environmental movement. Stimulating readings and engaging discussion will challenge perceptions and get you thinking!

Time & Location

Sessions are from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on alternate Thursdays.  We'll meet in Michener 113, to the right of the main entrance on the main floor of Michener Library.

 

Discussion Dates

Because breaking bread together is a good way to foster conversation, light snacks will be served.

  • Thu, Feb 05th, 2009: Let's get started!  
    We'll meet one another, go over expectations for the next couple of months' activities, and look over a few short readings.
    I'll explain the various ways that participants can access the readings.
  • Thu, Feb 19th, 2009: Feminist Methods and Theories  
    We'll discuss readings and get some working definitions that we'll use for the rest of the series.
    I'll remind participants of the many ways that readings are available.
  • Thu, Mar 05th, 2009: Feminist Science Fiction and the Environmental Movement  
    We'll discuss readings and have fun with alternate realities!
  • Thu, Mar 26th, 2009: Female Scholars and Ecologics?  
    We'll discuss readings and explore different logics for explaining the natural world.
  • Thu, Apr 09th, 2009: Consumerism and Environmental Influence  
    We'll discuss readings, comparing the imagined and the empirical.
  • Thu, Apr 23rd, 2009: Collaging with Eris Klein  
    We'll pull out our inventive selves and create collages with Eris, the artist featured during the March exhibit in Michener. Bring a light heart and sense of fun for this evening of learning, cutting and gluing!
