ICPSR: Home

The Inter-University Consortium of Political and Social Research is a depository of datasets.

What is ICPSR?

The Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) is an organization of member institutions working together to acquire and preserve social science data, to provide open and equitable access to these data, and to promote effective data use.

ICPSR is the world's largest archive of computer-readable social science data.  In addition to archiving collections from disciplines such as sociology, political science, history, and economics, ICPSR has seven special emphases in gerontology, substance abuse and mental health, criminal justice, child care, health and medical care, education, and demography.

Creating an ICPSR Account

Access to ICPSR is limited to current students, faculty and staff at member institutions.  For access to all datasets you will need to create an ICPSR account from a campus computer.  Click this link to ICPSR and click the "Log In/Create Accout" link found on the right. Please contact me if you need to create an account from off-campus.

Do not use a social media account, as you will not have access to all datasets. Once you have created the account from a computer on campus you will be able to login from any computer to access your account and the datasets available from ICPSR.
