Format for Text Citations

Text Citations

"Each reference should be cited in the text, tables, or figures in consecutive numerical order my means of superscript arabic numerals."

  • User Arabic numbers in superscript
  • Superscript number goes outside periods and commas
  • Superscript number goes inside colons and semicolons
  • When citing more than one reference at the same place in the text place a comma (and no space) between numbers
  • Do not use ibid or op cit

Each text citation must have a corresponding reference citation that is noted with the same Arabic numeral.
