Access & Preservation

Open Access & UNC's Institutional Repository

Open Access refers to provision of free, immediate, and online availability of materials for research such as journal articles, books, learning materials, and data.  For example, researchers may choose to publish an article in an open access journal or in a journal that allows preprints or post-print versions of the article to be posted online. The UNC Libraries assist the campus community in making their materials available open access through the digital repository called Scholarship & Creative Works @ UNC.

Data

Originally known as the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, ICPSR maintains a data archive more than 500,000 files of research in the social sciences. The University of Northern Colorado has been a member of ICPSR since 2014, and member benefits allow UNC researchers to deposit digital data for access and preservation purposes.
