Radio Stations

The campus has been the home of many radio stations throughout the years: KCBL, KLAB, KSRR, KSRX, KUNC, and KFKA. KFKA was Colorado's first radio station beginning broadcasts in June, 1923.

The Normal Mandolin Club - The full sleeve caps, skirt silhouette and hairstyles reflect those of the late 1890s.

The 1931 the Women’s Octet pictured here with its accompanist, performed music on both campus and in the local community.

The Pride of the Rockies marching band gained prominence under the direction Wayman Walker (1952-1976). Over the years, the band has worn uniforms that reflect the changing names of the school.

Music

Music has been taught at UNC since the from the very first semester.  In the first two decades, the music program was devoted to glee clubs and chorales. Teaching instrumental music came later.
