Origins and Early Years

Greeley's quest for an instituation of high education oficallly ended on April 1, 1889 when Govenor Job A. Cooper signed Senate Bill 104, instituting the state's first normal school in Greeley. S.B. 104 stated the location to be "at or near the city of Greeley" and the purpose of the school to provide instruction in "the science and art of teaching."
