Textbooks have become increasingly unaffordable for college students, but luckily there are some innovative solutions, such as Open Educational Resources (OER). Librarian Jen Mayer recently completed a sabbatical focused on researching the impact of OER. In addition, for the 2022 Bears Give Back annual Day of Giving, University Libraries raised fund to support textbook affordability.
This spring, the creativity of the UNC community was on display as the Mari Michener Gallery hosted a colorful diorama display starring Peeps! Prizes were awarded in categories including Best in Peeps and Peeple's Choice. We've got a list of the winners and photos of some of the top entries here.

Nikaiya Lawson is a busy UNC student who's already an accomplished artist! In addition to her internship in University Libraries Archives & Special Collections, she contributed several works to the Spring 22 student art exhibit in the Mari Michener Gallery. And this fall, for the first time, she'll curate an exhibit. Nikaiya talked with librarian Annie Epperson about her art, her work on campus and around Greeley, and her hopes for her forthcoming exhibit.
